1st outdoor Salsa dance event organized by the Flying Dance Company (FDC)

FDC teaches it’s 1st paying students renting space in downtown Guelph

Moved to a new studio on Waterloo Street in Guelph. We were there for almost 3 years

The outdoor dance event becomes known as “Salsa In The Park” (SITP), and we were back for the 2nd year. Lots of people enjoyed dancing in the outdoors and wanted more….

FDC leased studio space. Now we had our own place to dance and play

Summer 2008

SITP had now become very popular. We hosted our 1st 10-week outdoor dance events on Friday evenings. The event also changed its name to “Dancing In The Park” (DITP). We now taught more than Salsa and out dance family kept growing

2010 – 2011

The 2008 economic meltdown lead by the tech bubble caught up with us. Lots of adjustments were made, and we still kept offering dance lessons to those who could make it out

DITP hosted its first outdoor event outside of Guelph, in Goderich ON

DITP hosted events in Goderich, Hamilton and Elora

FDC moved to a new studio in downtown Guelph. We decided to focus on the dances we loved, Salsa, Cha Cha, Bachata, Rumba, Waltz and Argentine Tango

Dancing In The Park (DITP) changes its name to better reflect the brand, Flying Dance Festival (FDFest)

FDFest decided to focus on hosting the events close to home, thus Guelph and Elora

Flying Dance Company (FDC) changes its name to Flying Dance Community (FDComm) to better reflect and support the community it has been growing for the last 10 years

FDComm & FDFest introduces Moonlight Dancing, weekly dance socials on Thursday evening all summer long. Latin dance styles are the focus

FDComm/FDFest expands the Moonlight Dancing events to now include Tuesday evenings, from June to August every summer. Dance styles:

  • Tuesdays: Ballroom & Latin dances
  • Thursdays: Latin & African dances

FDFest now host outdoor dance events in Guelph only. With the introduction of Moonlight Dancing, we had too many events in town to host in our neighboring cities. We still love going dancing out of town to Kitchener, Waterloo, Hamilton, London, Milton, and even as far as Toronto.
